Lyrics
CRAZY, MIXED-UP PLATYPUS
chorus
Crazy, mixed-up platypus -
Ornithorynchus anatinus.
Duck-bill; beaver-tail; big, wide webbed feet,
the strangest creature you?ll ever meet,
the platypus!
verse 1
Looking closer, then they saw
the secret weapon of the platypus dad.
On each hind leg, a poison claw
to sting their enemies if they get mad.
repeat chorus
verse 2
Platypuses use their strong, flat tails
to dive through the mud to find their dinner:
tadpoles, crayfish, frogs and snails,
and worms for dessert so they won?t get thinner.
repeat chorus
verse 3
"An egg-laying mammal?!" cried the scientists,
when from their shock they?d quite recovered.
"That?s not on any of our animal lists!
What an oddball creature we?ve discovered!"
repeat chorus
verse 4
Mom has no nipples for the babies to find;
the milk oozes out all over her tummy.
Baby platypuses don?t seem to mind;
they lick it right off and think it?s yummy.
repeat chorus
