Story Behind The Song

I wanted to write a song celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the greatest hoax in history (man on the moon).

Song Length 6:18 Genre Rock - Easy Listening

Lyrics

20.7.69:

It was the 20th July 1969,
Everyone was caught up in the hype.
When they touched down,
The world breathed a sigh of relief.
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,"
Those immortal words set in stone for all time.
So why do I struggle to believe?

To me it's just a mystery;
The biggest hoax in history.

C: Just show me the flag
And I'll be quiet.
You say that we've been there,
But I don't buy it.
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
Just show me the flag
It should be easy to find
No trouble for Hubble
What have you got to hide?
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.

"The Eagle has landed" we heard you say;
Sea Of Tranquillity - never the same.
When the engines stopped,
The hoax had already begun.
The stage was set and the lights came on,
The clapperboard shut and they shouted "action!"
Was it really the moon or Area 51?

Were you making history,
Or starting a conspiracy?

C: Just show me the flag
And I'll be quiet.
You say that we've been there,
But I don't buy it.
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
Just show me the flag
It should be easy to find
No trouble for Hubble
What have you got to hide?
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.

Bridge:

I've a fervent prayer,
That "one day we'll lift the truth's protective layer."
You were puppets on wires
Controlled by cheats and liars.
And every move that you made
Was taped and replayed.
There is so much at stake.
Was it real or fake?
Did it happen as you said,
Or were you playing with our heads?
And tell me where were the stars?
Where were the stars?
Where were the stars?
Where were the stars?
Where were the stars?

It was the 20th July 1969,
Everyone was caught up in the hype.
When they touched down,
The world breathed a sigh of relief.
When I look at the moon against the starry sky,
Are our footprints up there,
Or is it all lies?
Is it fact or fiction, real or fantasy?

I want it to make sense,
Let me see some evidence.

C: Just show me the flag
And I'll be quiet.
You say that we've been there,
But I don't buy it.
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
Just show me the flag
It should be easy to find
No trouble for Hubble
What have you got to hide?
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.

Just show me the flag
What do you say?
Just show me the flag
Or are you afraid?

Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
Just show me the flag,
The stars and stripes of the USA.
We're being lied to every day.

"One day we'll lift the truth's protective layer."
