Story Behind The Song
We lived there - and it was hard, and fun, and gorgeous, and challenging, and there are a million other places like it in the world, but we just wanted to write about the place we lived.
Song Description
The challenges of living a hard life including the joys and frustrations of a poor neighborhood that has to deal with violence and crime on a daily basis. The musical approach is based on a New Orleanss "Second Line" funeral procession complete with piccolos, tuba and clarinet and a female soul chorus.

Lyrics
all the cats and dogs are howlin' in WC
keepin blood lettin at bay
all the corner jacks are hoppin' in WC
hustlin' another day
doin' time in WC
walkin' through a mine field WC
everywhere you look their givin green
bring me to a place where i can lay my head
dealin meds
dodgin feds
j'n parle pas iglesh aqui
you gotta give in or get out
there's a very queasy truce in WC
that keeps me up at night
i can't get no respect in WC
'cause i'm too bloody white
at the break of light in WC
survive another night in WC
there's no prettier place to be
bring me to a place where i don't end up dead
bring me to a place in WC
where i find grace in WC
let it wash over here
you gotta give in or get out
I ain't got no hope in WC
I can't get no dough in WC
Settle for less
Must confess
They keep sayin' they do for me
But look around, it's just a shame
I'm a stranger
It'll never change
There's no prettier place to be
