Story Behind The Song
While this song represents a collage of experiences I have had helping friends through divorces, a particular inspiration was a friend whose marriage was ending after many, many years. While there was sadness in the the admission that the marriage was over, there was also resolution that she was ready to move on in her life.

Lyrics
There's a cold wind outside and though the fire burns bright
It can't warm this chill that I feel
For I've decided today, that I must move away and leave you, it all seems unreal
For you found someone new, who does things I can't do
You say that she makes you complete
I loved you goodbye, I loved you goodbye
After all of these years to our friends it appeared
That we were the perfect pair
But you married your career and every time I drew near
You pushed me away with your stare.
Chorus So I can't say good luck and I can't say good night
But I can say I loved you goodbye, I loved you goodbye
I loved you goodbye
Bridge I loved you goodbye to the heartache, the meaningless frills
Goodbye to the emptiness you could have filled
Through the grief and the pain, I can start out again
A beginning can start from this end
Now our bedroom is bare as I walk down the stairs
The memories flood over my heart
I lock the front door, what I'll open no more
Leave my key and my ring as I part
Chorus
