Story Behind The Song
I wrote the song for my wife Jennifer. The recruit did make it back alive.
Song Description
A very deep story in a very short time. A young man answering his call to serve his country, and
the girl who'll wait for him to come home. His promise to marry her when he arrives back, and her very real concern that his promise may not be kept, because he may not come back alive.

Lyrics
Don't Worry Jennifer
As we sit here on this bench - waiting for my bus to arrive
You whisper hesitant goodbyes - as if I may not come back alive
You ask me if a lack of love on my part drove us to this wooden stop
Where many say their last goodbyes
CHORUS:
Don't worry Jennifer I love you
Your breath is what I breathe for air
Don't worry Jennifer I love you
And I'll marry you someday girl this I swear
Don't my uniform look nice - freshly pressed my seams all alined
Even the black upon my boots - wears a prestone 30 weight shine
Now let me wipe away your tears and here's the keys to my old chev
Just keep the back reserved for me
Repeat chorus
Bridge: You know I never break my promises
I'll keep this one you wait and see
Repeat chorus
Finale'
As we sit here on this bench - waiting for my bus to arrive
You hold me close and say goodbye as if I may not come back alive
