Song Description

Walking in a fall rain with the leaves falling a man has memories of his wife. The smells and sights keep bringing more menories. He ends up at the shore where he last saw his wife when she left, and for reasons unknow has not returned.

Story Behind the Song

Stared as a poem but a melody kept haunting me so I knew had to record it. When a craigslist request I had to find some musician caught the eye of Cellist Gabrielle Arness. I finished the last verse and had her add the cello part.

Lyrics

Here in the fall

The leaves are slowly falling
Like the snow that's soon to follow
As the rain makes little rivers
That carries them away
The air is filled with memories
I can smell with every breath
And I imagine we are walking hand in hand
Here in the fall

The geese are softly calling
Through the grey and clouded skies
As the cold and angry northern wind
Leads them on their way
The fields have turned to gold
Like my faded wedding band
And I long to feel the lips that I first kissed
Here in the fall

The Iron Gate is broken
And the path is barely showing
As I walk down to the water
And stare across the bay
I can feel your arms around me
And hear your promise to return
As I close my eyes and watch you wave goodbye
Here in the fall
