Road We're On

Story Behind The Song

This was one of our first songs together. James and I had been listening and singing out some duets by the Australian singer-songwriting couple Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson. James had started playing his 12-string a lot and this tune came to us pretty quickly.

Lyrics

Walkin' down this old road
Watchin' for the signs
I've been here before
So many times

Tearing down the missed concepts that only cloud my mind
Feeling on my discontent til nothing's left behind

This is the road I'm on
This is the life I've come to know
Here is my only song
I'll sing it to you before I go
This is the road I'm on.

There are hard times ahead so you must slow down
If you don't you'll find yourself running in the ground
But if you want a ride I'll make room for you
You can sit here by my side
And we'll make it through

This is the road I'm on

We're on our way back home without any tears
So much time alone just spinning my wheels

This is the road we're on
This is the road we're on
