Story Behind The Song

Share Your Shine, such a simple yet powerful phrase. "Share Your Shine" came from a conversation I had with a friend after talking about the mindset and mental health of our babies and youth navigating through this confusing time of the pandemic. As a full-time musician and new mom, the phrase stuck with me and I was inspired to write a song with my new baby boy in mind. I finished the song during a late-night feeding through the glow of my cell phone light. After completing the song, I felt compelled to turn the lyrics of the song into a children's book. With our five cats as the characters of the book, Share Your Shine takes the reader through beautifully illustrated pages of positive messages and reassurance of their self-worth, ensuring they have the tools to weather any storm. This book became an uplifting way to wind down the day reminding little ones that no matter the highs and the lows of the day, to always remember to share their shine. With the positive feedback I received after printing this book, I plan to expand this series with the five cats along with releasing more songs to coincide with the story. As a singer-songwriter, I write with my heart on my sleeve to leave an impression on my listeners through my relatable lyrics. Watching the lyrics of my song evolve into this children's book has been a surreal experience. In a world that can be overwhelming and scary for so many children, this book is the perfect reminder to our youth that they are perfect the way they are and that the world needs their bright light.
