Angel of Mercy

There's a city of angels
At least that's what I'm told
I was one of the doubters
And my heart was growing old
Dim in my darkness
Grown used to the cold
I'm suddenly seeing
You're my angel of mercy

You give me a reason
To have a heart again
You are my reason
To wish I had more time
And now I am seeing
Your light that takes me in
Believe in this feeling
You're my angel of mercy

Meet me in the twisted middle
Of our tortured love denied
My angel of tender mercy
No longer need you hide
Here in this precious riddle
Are the things in me that died
My angel of tender mercy
You're my smile on the inside

Comes in this package
I did not recognize
From beneath all this wreckage
We almost passed us by
Now I am waking
But the dream is still alive
I believe in this feeling
You're my angel of mercy

The years that I waited
Were they a price I had to learn?
I anticipated
But had no faith that someone heard
You and I are fated
No more fear in my concern
I believe in this feeling
You're my angel of mercy

Well written and performed. Pedal steel is cool. Distinctive and easy to listen to voice.

Ed Verner has a gift and a GREAT song here. "Angel of Mercy" could easily be heard in TV or movie soundtracks !! It's innocent and charming story keeps the listener's attention unmoved. His vocal is perfect for the lyric and mood. I found myself listening over and over again. BRAVO ED !!!
