Story Behind The Song
So if you've had it - where do you go to ease your mind ? ..... down to the river where the company of strangers and the taste of good whiskey is enough to bring you back from the troubles life can throw your way. The hero has had woman trouble and nearly resorted to the ultimate solution but fortunately did not and is hear to tell the tale. W wanted a simple blues for Eddy to sing and Colin stormed a fantastic solo. Eddy could not resist the Elvis take and still claims that he saw him once driving a 396 bus down the Staines Road. Keep taking the tablets Eddy !

Lyrics
SLIDE AWAY ( W L COTTERELL 2013 )
I went down to the river to give myself time to think
I met a man at the river - he said son sit down and have a drink
You must let your worries go, watch this river as it flows
Let your troubles just slide, slide away.
I had a woman, she was so tender - she loved me all summer long.
So much did I love that woman - I wrote about her in a song.
But she upped, she upped and left me - I don't know why to this day
So I'm gonna sit here and let my troubles slide away.
Slide away, slide away - just let it slide away
Slide away, slide away, slide away
Its not the worry on my mind, its that she was so unkind
To treat me the way she did
And if I'd had a gun, I would have shot that woman down
And let slide, let her slide away
So if you're feeling kinda restless, or you're in a bad,sad way
You should come to the river, one of these fine days.
It will ease your worried mind, it will treat you real kind
It will let all your troubles slide away, slide away
