Story Behind The Song
What inspired me to write this song was a few of my own experiences as a young black man struggling to find my way in the urban inner-city. But also seeing many young black men choosing the streets, with the belief that street-life is the only way to survive, when it's not.
Song Description
This song was written with the intention to uplift young men in the urban inner city struggling to find their way. Choosing the streets is not the only option, and going after one's dream is possible. The lyrics were written in a way to convey a story of an older black man giving advice to a younger brother about the streets, and choosing a better path.

Lyrics
Street life
You better save yourself
Get outta the street life
Before it gets too late
Running here and there
I was running everywhere
Thought I had some friends
Found out the hard way
I dun lost myself
Trying to be a man
Wasn't what I thought
I saw a lot of things
Growing up so fast you could say
Thought I knew it all
But didn't know a thing
The future had something in store for me
And when I look at you
I see myself
You living that street life
You better save yourself
Get outta the street life
Don't let 'em take you down
Get outta them streets boy
You hustling just to get by
But there's another way
You better save yourself
Before it gets too late
Time ain't on our side
(Boy live your life)
Cause when you all in the streets
That weight is all on your shoulders
It's just a heavy pain
I wonder does it ever go away
Feels like another day
Does it ever change
Po po around the corner
Drug dealers start running game
Is this the life
I chose for me? Oh why
Bad boy
What's gonna be
Get it right or run the street (Repeat 3x)
