Lyrics
Celebrations and Wanderings written by Daniel Lee
Halfway to what they said was a better off place,
They were tossing those brown eggs in a 2 AM diner
I was headed to where the cars run fast
And the Coke machines, you know they're built to last
And people know what they're doing and where they're going
So just grabbin a cup to make my eyes stay peeled
Blankly chewing a bite to keep my hands on the wheel
To watch those lights that flash and flash and flash and flash?
I need a new place to keep my dream alive
Where I'll always notice a smile when I arrive
And not blank stares from people who only like their own words
Should I be celebrating? I'm only wandering?
I can find my way with a little company
Well I can't come clean with that old routine
And I keep on doing things the hard way
I've made enemies and apologies
But home is where they all understand me
Some days you see a million faces
And everybody looks like they ain't got no time
But then you think to yourself, it's really all they have
And if only they'd take a moment to laugh
They'd realize that time is their relative
I put down my money in a world full of gifts
That are always expected and that never uplift
O god how I'd love to give you some flowers
I think someday I'm gonna drive this car
'Till it cries to me, "Well you've gone too far
And ask just how long can you avoid the last place?"
Should I be celebrating? I'm only wandering?
I can find my way with a little company
Well I can't come clean with an old routine
And I keep on doing things the hard way
I've made enemies and apologies
But home is where they all understand me
And I still haven't found my piece of the pie
That someone tossed out?
