Story Behind The Song
My wife was tired of hearing songs I had written previously that were influenced by past love affairs. She wondered when I would write a song about her. So I did. It later won an honorable mention in a Billboard Song Contest and I won a pair of cool blue sunglasses that I never wear. But my wife still smiles when she hears this song.
Song Description
Ballad with dashes of Bob Seger and Buffalo Springfield. Women tend to like this song. Seriously. Airy, chimy guitars and simple but haunting piano work.

Lyrics
Presence of Angels
It's a long, long walk from the shadows to the dark,
Where light couldn't reach me
That's where you found me talkin' in my sleep,
I called out your name,
I was drowning in the rain;
The presence of angels,
When you lay by my side;
The presence of angels,
There that night.
Calm of the storm, you kept me warm,
A rock I could hold onto.
Pieces of my heart falling apart,
Swept away by the tide,
You held me while I cried;
The presence of angels,
Whenever you smile
The presence of angels,
Here tonight.
Wish I had it all to give you for all you've given me.
Don't you know? When an angel calls,
You go to her side,
You don't ask why
Every tear tells a story,
Each drop is a line,
A volume of miracles.
Each broken whisper is a poem never heard,
And I can't find the words,
To tell you how I feel;
The presence of angels,
When you lay by my side,
The presence of angels,
Here tonight.
The presence of angels,
Whenever you smile;
The presence of angels,
Here tonight.
The presence of angels,
Here tonight.
