Story Behind The Song
Inspired by one day in my home town (Sunderland - UK). In particular, seeing an old lady collapse in a post office, and nobody batting an eyelid or attempting to help at all. I helped though! One of those moments where humanity is so dissapointing.
Song Description
Fingerpicked guitar and vocal only. Quiet song about the goings on in suburbia, and how some people discard the elderly like rubbish.

Lyrics
Verse:
A perforated sunset, rolling on forever ,where the rooftops meet the sticks.
A passing conversation is lost in the reflection of this.
And all across the slant roof seas of suburbia, no-one hears you shout.
Noise from the unsettled is drowned out by boiling kettles, and no-one hears a sound.
Chorus:
You're just a lonely heart aching, just another glass breaking.
Just a lonely heart aching, just another glass breaking.
Verse:
Are you scared of getting older? Are you scared of being left all alone?
Your family visit once a week, treat you like a freak, and you wish they'd leave you alone.
But in the world that you once knew, there was no neglect.
But then your daddy sent you to the mill, it's cause and effect.
Chorus:
You're just an old hand shaking just another glass breaking.
Just an old hand shaking, just another glass breaking.
Middle 8:
Collapsing in the post office, and lying on the ground.
The silence seems to suffocate, will someone call the ambulance?
Outro:
You're just a lonely heart aching, just another glass breaking.
Just an old hand shaking, just another glass breaking.
Just a rich kid faking, just another glass breaking.
Just a lonely heart aching, just another glass breaking.
