Story Behind The Song
This song was written after the death of my good friend and fishing partner, Mike. He never made it to the Windy Creek Homestead, but his spirit is there and I dedicate the collection of songs from the Cabin Song CD to his memory.

Lyrics
Cross I Bear
David Walburn 2002©
(406) 250-9415
VERSE He?s sitting in a hotel staring at his 45
Trying to summon up the courage to say good-bye
And a lifetime of pain is written in his last refrain
CHORUS Life?s so unfair this Cross I Bear
VERSE Baby I love you so now I?m gonna set you free
I don?t want you drowning in my misery
This river is just way too wide
And I?ll never reach the other side
CHORUS As long as I wear this Cross I Bear
BRIDGE Life is so hard on me
Every breath I take only causes further pain
So please forgive me for what I?ve done
There is only God and me to blame
I swear it?s this Cross I Bear
VERSE He looks at his letter and he reads it several times
Looking for an answer that had been there all this time
Was it the wound that never healed?
The day he found his brother lying breathless in the field
CHORUS The day he came to wear that Cross He Bears
BRIDGE (repeat)
VERSE He?s sitting in a hotel staring at his 45
Trying to summon up the courage to say good-bye
And a lifetime of pain is written in his last refrain
CHORUS I no longer wear this Cross
