Story Behind The Song
Originally a short poem by a friend of mine (Shaun Fitzpatrick), composed during a period depression),the poem was adapted/altered to become the song you hear here adding a hopeful theme, and pointing to "swallowing every last drop" of life rather than feel sad about what is not working. Here is the original poem.
When you climb out,
The trees are here,
Not some way up there.
You look around with greedy eyes,
Exhaling shallow air.
You cannot move,
You stand entranced,
Drinking deep the day.
Has the ghost been laid to rest?
Is the menhir off my chest?
The black is sinking slowly back,
It doesn't go away,
Is it planning to take over me again.
So live the joy,
And capture life,
Swallow every last drop.
One day unknown,
In times ahead,
The rapture has to stop.
Is this the end of the numb?
Can I feel what i've become?
Is this the place where colours fill your soul?
If it is I'm gonna stay a long time.

Lyrics
?The Whole?
When you climb, out of here boy
Not some way up there
You look around with greedy eyes boy
Exhaling shallow air
Is it the time to feel right?
Has the ghost I stole, been laid to rest?
To capture life
And swallow every last drop, in the time ahead
No faith, I have in me
Happens now and then
Looking down is so easy
Raise my eyes again
Is it the time to feel right?
Has the ghost I stole, been laid to rest?
To capture life
And swallow every last drop, in the time ahead
You cannot move, you stand entranced
Wasting every last chance
One day unknown, in times ahead
It plays what you said
I?m drinking, day and night
Slipping silently, into black
The whole seems so fragmented
I so much want it back
Is it the time to feel right?
Has the ghost I stole, been laid to rest?
To capture life
And swallow every last drop
And swallow every last drop
And swallow every last drop, in the time ahead
