Lyrics

One True Love

Verse 1 (10th and Pine)
G Em
It was summer in the city
D C
And buildings gave us shade
G Em
And we hadn't yet conceived of
D C
The list of plans that we have made
G Em
With the mattress on hardwood
D C
And the noise down on the street
G Em
I will lay my head beside you
D C
And tell you that you will always be

Chorus
G C
You will always be
G C
You will always be
G C D G
You will always be my one true love

Verse 2 (Haycock)
The nights we spent together
When the stars lit up the sky
With the gray rocks all around us
And the red tails flying by
And the mountain stood beside us
the moon shown thru the trees
I would lay my head beside you
And tell you that you will always be

Chorus
G C
You will always be
G C
You will always be
G C D G
You will always be my one true love

Verse 3 (Florida)
Now the sun pours in like honey
And the view goes on for days
And the kids are interrupting
The naked Sunday plans that we made
And we look for art and beauty
Just as long as it is free
And we walk down by the water
And I tell you that you will always be

Chorus
G C
You will always be
G C
You will always be
G C D G
You will always be my one true love

Last verse
When the stars begin to burn out
And that view begins to fade
And there's nothing to check off
That list of plans we've made
When the the buildings start to crumble
And the mountain tumbles to the sea
I will down there beside you
And whisper you will always be...

Chorus
G C
You will always be
G C
You will always be
G C D G
You will always be my one true love

Chorus
G C
You will always be
G C
You will always be
G C D G
You will always be my one true love

This song is very beautiful and has a lot of feeling to it. The vocals and harmonies are great. The instrumentation is excellent. Nice acoustic guitar, accordion, mandolin, bass and drums. It also had good dynamics. I love it!!! Keep up the good work.

A very pleasant, traditional and yet quite modern folk song with clever lyrics beyond the ordinary, everyday folk song. The ending feels sincere and honest, as a folk song should be, and not just a rehash of your ordinary folk songs.

This song was posted as folk. With the instrumentation, (drums, electric bass, electric guitar) I felt that it would be a better fit in the pop category. The lead vocal was a plus, as were the back-up vocals. I would have liked more substance to the song, like, why would she always be your one true love? Sure it's a pop song, but give me a reason to want to listen again.

Respectfully submitted,

This is a good solid song! It's the kind of song that gets stuck in your head

Very strong vocal, nice dynamic build and good use of instrumentation. The oohs add a really nice touch to the vibe of the song. Nice job. The song itself has a "Van the Man" feel to it. Good soul.

Loved the song from the get go. I like the guitar intro and your vocals are strong and clear. Excellent word pictures and developing story in every verse. I really like the way you wrote the last verse, referring to the first three and wrapping it all up; you don't see that very often; skillfully done. Verse 3 was pretty creative (kids interrupting the "naked" Sunday plans).
