Story Behind The Song
A bit macabre, but it was written following the untimely death of a friend. I liked the 'rhyme or reason' theme and changed the lyrics to ponder the death of a relationship.
Song Description
They are sad to realise that after all they had the relationship should collapse, the moral of the song being made in the last two lines of the chorus.

Lyrics
RHYME OR REASON Copyright D Hume
It was going so well
We both shared the same shell
A modern-day Bogie and Bacall
Our love was entwined
Like the roots of a vine
There ain't no rhyme or reason to it all
We were more than a match
We were more than attached
At each others beck and call
We were tight as a knot
Never rowed, never fought
There ain't no rhyme or reason to it all
CHORUS:We walked 10 feet tall
Everything was going A.O.K.
Then our hopes and our dreams were ripped seam to seam
All that's left are bits and pieces
Photographs with cracks and creases
You never know when the hammer will fall
There ain't no rhyme or reason to it all
HE: But as I sing this song
Things are all going wrong
Wished to God I'd had a crystal ball
SHE: Was it him was it me
Was it just meant to be
There ain't no rhyme or reason to it all
CHORUS:We walked 10 feet tall
Everything was going A.O.K.
Then our hopes and our dreams were ripped seam to seam
All that's left are bits and pieces
Photographs with cracks and creases
We never knew that the hammer would fall
Ain't no rhyme or reason
Ain't no time or season
There ain't no rhyme or reason to it all
