Tumble Town (Acoustic)

Story Behind The Song

We brought the whole town to life, they partied so hard, the police estimate were around 20,000 people there in that park. And the words of the song say ?waiting for the day, when music comes to town and all the walls come tumbling down? I really feel music can break any barriers. There?s a bonus acoustic version of this on the album. This is as it was when it was written, the song grew into something much bigger, but I still love the acoustic version, that?s why it?s on twice.

Song Description

Its is a song about a village we played while on tour out in Kazakhstan. The buildings had fallen into disrepair and as we drove into the town we were greeted with curiosity and suspicion almost. I remember looking into the eyes of the people that lived there, they stared back at us really with no clue what we were bringing to them. As we started building up the stage, more and more strange people came out, standing at a discreet distance and staring, watching what was happening, what these intruders were doing in the middle of a park in their old town. This place was really old soviet blocks, very deprived. By the time we were doing a sound check there were about 5000 people gathering, watching, getting steadily closer as they got braver. By the end of the sound check the word had gone out. We got back on our bus, went to a camp and had a shower etc bite to eat and got ready, when we came back to do the show we couldn?t get anywhere near the stage, we had to get off the bus with our instruments and fight our way to the stage.

Lyrics

Driving into Tumble Town
The walls of life are falling down
We?re greeted by the eyes of curious soles
Trapped in the fabric of the crumbling walls

Faces staring back at me
Through windows of reality
Curious, and scared, and hopeful all in one glance
Gonna give it one last chance

But Tumble Town?s alive
Its beating strong with the heart of a million lives
Waiting for that day when the music comes to town
And all the walls come tumbling down tumbling down

When we look out on the crowd
All the faces that were curious and proud
Now lit up with the beat
Rock and roll and their dancing on the street, in the street

But Tumble Town?s alive
Its beating strong with the heart of a million lives
Waiting for that day when the music comes to town
And all the walls come tumbling down come tumbling down

Coz I?m ready to keep on
Keep on keeping the beat on
I ain?t gonna sleep on
This time of life
Coz I?m ready to keep on
Keep on keeping the beat on
I ain?t gonna sleep on
This time of life

But Tumble Town?s alive
Its beating strong with the heart of a million lives
Waiting for that day when the music comes to town
And all the walls come tumbling down

But Tumble Town?s alive
Its beating strong with the heart of a million lives
Waiting for that day when the music comes to town
And all the walls come tumbling down, tumbling down
And the walls come tumbling down
