Story Behind The Song
I always marveled at those folks who have the serenity and patience to set up their easel and paint every day. After watching some of these souls at the beach, and in the mountains, I was more willing to stop and enjoy everything at an unhurried pace.
Song Description
The narrator of the song describes the calm pace of his life and his days with his dog at the waterfall. He enjoys time with his friend who paints and the tourists who want someone to take their picture at the falls. He encourges the listener to slow down and enjoy the sights, and by inference, to slow the pace of their lives lest the precious and beautiful is passed over.

Lyrics
TAKE YOUR TIME
(v1) Down by the waterfall
Skipper and I would plan to start our summer fun in May
I?d pack our lunch at sunrise
Grab my paints and canvass, then stroll on down to spend the day
So much to see and we?ve got time to see it
The light will change and it becomes all new
(v2) We?ll see Baloney Bergman
Perched beside his easel, he?ll hold his cat and sip a glass of wine
He?ll socialize, pet my dog, hardly make stroke
but when he does it?s real fine
It?s a whole new look, full of colored light
The shapes are crude but we don?t really mind
Take your time, don?t want to miss it
It all may not be here very long
(v3) Visitors come and go
People point, the kids squeal and shout, we all share the sights
They might ask me to snap a photo,
We?ll move the folks around by the falls until the pose is just right
It?s not long until they turn to go, much more important things to do
Take your time, don?t want to miss it
You may not be here very long
