Story Behind The Song
I am an artist of sorts and one day I was doodling and came up with this little guy, "Dusty Soot" that could be a helper to Santa...from that came songs and stories galore...all we need to do now is introduce him to the world!
Song Description
"Dusty Soot" was raised by the folks in Ashville because he was found abandoned as a baby and was so filthy dirty that's what the townsfolk named him. When he grew up to be about 12 years old he had a brilliant idea to help Santa stay clean by going ahead of him on Christmas eve and clean all the chimneys. After all, Dusty Soot was real skinny and could fit into every chimney and with Rocket, his reindeer, they could get the job done in nothing flat!

Lyrics
?Dusty Soot?
(Shmoot?ashes + dirt)
1.
T'was the night before Christmas - everyone was asleep - except one of Santa's helpers - I'd like you to meet.
He's tall for an elf and as thin as a bone - he works very fast and then he works all alone.
His friends call him "Dusty" -- Dusty Soot is his name. He's got a reindeer named "Rocket" that helped bring him to fame.
2.
With a sleigh and just one reindeer -- they move at quite a pace.
They clean out each chimney, and leave a very clean place.
Then away they both go to make more visits in the night,
Cleaning chimneys just for Santa - 'til the dawns early light.
It's a great big help to Santa to have those chimneys all clean,
Now, he can concentrate on presents and fill those little kiddies dreams.
3.
Dusty has a coined word he uses to describe all the ashes and soot that's stuck on the chimneys inner side.
The chimney's down right dirty and Dusty moves a lot of soot,
He'll always use his favorite word and call it all just "shmoot".
You see, he only works for Santa, and he's the first one on the scene,
So when Santa swooshes down the chimney - his clothes are always clean.
4.
When they got back to the cold North Pole, they heard a speech from Santa Claus,
I want to thank my helpers one and all, but I'd like a special applause
For Dusty Soot and Rocket Reindeer for being the first ones on the scene,
For doing such a splendid job -- just look at me -- I'm still clean.
Dusty loves this time of year 'cause it's always so much fun,
And he wants to send a Merry Christmas to e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e.
