Texas Medicine

Story Behind The Song

This is live version. Recorded at The University of Houston, Houston, TX. The idea of Texas Medicine was inspired by a mention of that in a Bob Dylan song called Stuck Inside of Mobile with The Memphis Blues Again. He sang, "The rainman gave me two cures. He said, Jumpr right in. One was Texas Medicine. The other was just railroad gin." The writers were members of Dr. Fry's Texas Medicine Band (one was just a lyricist)

Song Description

A woman is capitivating a man by her dance, her moves, and he is full of desire. The Chorus is subject to the interpretation of the listener, in that Texas Medicine is not defined explicitly. The captivating aspect of the song is the pounding beat, to me anyway.

Lyrics

Texas Medicine

I know you're looking for trouble
She's dancing just for you
Every glance from her flashing eyes
Is a door you must pass through
I know you're looking for trouble
You have looked but haven't seen
The notion the motion is heaven on earth
Is a nightmare that you've dreamed.

CHORUS:
I need myself some Texas Medicine
I need some of it right now
I need myself some Texas Medicine
I need some of it right now.

I've seen you watch the gypsy dancer
You still feel her heat
Desire is the hammer pounding wildly
It's promise is strong and sweet
Your wants and needs are past denying
As you watch her body swirl
Desire is the stem too tight for winding
It's promise is the world.

CHORUS
