Little bit of Texas

Story Behind The Song

An original song written by Chris Green. Here in his own words, is the inspiration behind the song 'Little bit of Texas' "Being a songwriter, I have written lots of songs over the years about people and life, and never knew that one day I would be writing one about myself. A few years back, it was a normal day like any other at work - when suddenly I was taken seriously ill and rushed to hospital by ambulance. I had to have life saving open heart surgery, and was kept alive on a life support machine in intensive care for a long time before making a recovery. But I was still not 100% and the following year I had to go back to hospital again for a heart valve replacement which involved more open heart surgery. After this, I was given a card to carry with details of my new heart valve and noticed it was manufactured by a company in Austin, Texas, USA. One of the good things about my life is being blessed with the gift to write songs and play musical instruments. One day while sitting with my guitar, I remembered about my heart valve and started singing the line 'I've got a little bit of Texas in my blood' From there on I composed the song 'Little bit of Texas' as a thank you to all the people in Austin, for my heart valve who literally 'found a place in my heart' I am truly grateful to all the doctors & surgeons at the hospital in the UK & the good people in Texas who have all been part of my journey in helping to save my life" Chris sent the song and story to the Mayor of Austin, Texas and was honoured to receive a congratulatory letter from Mayor Lee Heffingwell with an invitation to pop in and see him if he ever visited Austin

Lyrics

LITTLE BIT OF TEXAS

Got a little bit of Texas in my Blood
Got a little bit of Texas beatin' in my heart

Got it runnin' through my veins
For a lifetime that remains
Come rain or shine, twister or hurricane

Got a little bit of Texas in my blood
Got a little bit of Texas from the state I love
To Austin USA
There's one thing I wanna say
Got a little bit of Texas in my blood

Got a little bit of Texas in my stride
Got a little bit of Texas in my ride

Got it runnin' through my veins
For a lifetime that remains
Come rain or shine, twister or hurricane

Got a little bit of Texas in my blood
Got a little bit of Texas from the state I love
To Austin USA
There's one thing I wanna say
Got a little bit of Texas in my blood

Got a little bit of Texas in my blood
Got a little bit of Texas from the state I love
To Austin USA
There's one thing I wanna say
Got a little bit of Texas in my blood

Got a little bit of Texas
Got a little bit of Texas
Got a little bit of Texas
In my blood

Loved the vocal, arrangement and the beat. Great uplifting song.

Nice country song! Love the true country feel, vocals are great. Music and production are smooth. Nice job.
