Comfortable Christians

Story Behind The Song

This is a song and message to myself. Many people of different beliefs have one common belief-God. However, there are many different beliefs on who and what this God is and does. I believe that God is the loving father of all he created and justified our eternal existence to become what we were meant to be through Jesus payment for our sins. This is a song to encourage me to turn from my old harmful, futile and even useless/meaningless ways to a fulfilling life reviving obedience to God. It's real kick in the butt to live what I believe!

Song Description

This song starts with the hook. No messing around! It starts with the point to the song with an uncomplicated upfront chorus. The verses give explanation and support for the thesis of the song with an energetic onslaught of rhythmic and even rap like lyrics that drive home, and explain, the meaning of the title. The content of the lyrics really leaves no-one left to caste the proverbial 'first stone.' Just when you think the song has done it's job in conjuring up conviction to live in meaningful obedience to God, the final nail in coffin against hypocrisy is driven home with an alarming, even frightening quote, from Jesus about just how fatal hypocrisy really is!

Lyrics

Chorus:
The world doesn't need anymore, comfortable Christians, oh yeah. (repeat)

Sleep, wake up, shower off the hang over, eat, smoke a cigarette
go to work and put on a smile, Oh yeah.
Tell a dirty joke, curse a little bit, get in some gossip (just a bit)
Let your language be vile. Oh yeah.

(Chorus)

Don't rock the boat, don't tell the truth
standing up for something might mean you're a radical. Oh yeah.
Go to church, P.T.A., P.T.I.,
Even Bible College is an aliby. It gets you by. Oh yeah.

(Chorus)

Quick to tell the wise not to judge yourself
slow to take your Bible off the dusty shelf, you can't be wrong. Oh yeah.
Happy for yourself when you get the wealth
Could be generous but you got gadgets to buy. Oh yeah.

(Bridge)
When you can't sacrifice your vice
you may be in trouble.
Christ said the leuk warm are spewed out of His mouth.
Burst your bubble?

(Chorus)
