Story Behind The Song

I was messing around with an alternate tuning on my guitar, coming up with really pretty chord changes and melody lines. I had a few lines but got stuck on the lyrics and invited my friend Kristen Hall to help me finish it. She was visiting me in New York and I took a nap and when I woke up she had written all these beautiful lyrics based around my being stuck, not knowing what to say. My bass player later said, "you should fall asleep around her more often!" So, so true! Kristen is a genius songwriter who later went on to form the hit country band Sugarland.
