Story Behind The Song
Though not completely autobiographical, I do have some issues talking about my feelings. I'm not sure if it's about being male, or my English upbringing (stiff upper lip, big boys don't cry and all that) or maybe both. Anyway, the song evolved on the piano very quickly- lyrics and all. Though in my lumbering way, it's taken me a year to get it into a shape I can live with! I know I've got to up my productivity, but for me to get a song onto recording in a year is progress!!! I don't recall a song about this subject, so maybe it's something that needed to be sung.
Song Description
A guy singing to his girl about his frustration at not being able to put his feelings for her into words. (bit of an oxymoron really)- but I get away with it 'cos he's singing it in his mind! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Lyrics
SPEECHLESS
Music and Lyrics by Bruce Boome
When you say you love me, no matter how I try,
To say how I feel, the words all congeal,
And they- they leave me standing, high and dry.
Telling you my feelings, is the hardest thing I?ve tried.
Though I want your love, the words push and shove,
I get: speechless, tongue-tied, dumb, speechless, tongue-tied, dumb.
Though I know it looks like, my feelings are in doubt.
I don?t know what to do, it?s like my mouths filled with glue,
And the- the words get stuck and won?t come out.
I don?t want to lose you, so here?s my basic rule of thumb.
If you just get a sigh, it?s because I?m a guy,
I get: speechless, tongue-tied, dumb, speechless, tongue-tied, dumb.
If I stand in silence, don?t think it?s some weird quirk.
Though my heart?s sincere, I get trapped by my fear,
And I- I just can?t get my tongue to work.
When you say sweet nothings, and my reply?s paralysis.
I just get into a state; I?m inartic-a-u-late
So I- I try to answer with a kiss.
Loving you in silence, is something I must overcome
I gotta find me a way, that I can have my say,
I get: speechless, tongue-tied, dumb, speechless, tongue-tied, dumb.
I do have conversation, it?s just that there?s a gap.
I can talk about tools, or the World Series rules,
But when it- it comes to feelings I shut my trap.
Na na na na na na, na na na na na na.
That?s me at my best, getting things off my chest,
I get: speechless, tongue-tied, dumb, speechless, tongue-tied, dumb.
