Where Do I Go from Here

Story Behind The Song

Writing this song was basically me expressing life as a question, all of that out loud. It wasn't polished or poetic at first. It was just frustration, fear, and a little bit of hope scribbled into a computer. The bridge especially came from this moment where I realized I didn't need the whole plan... I just needed enough light to take the next step. So, the song is really about being honest in the in-between. It's for anyone who's trying to trust their heart, but feeling like they're standing still, asking the same question over and over: "Where do I go from here?"

Song Description

This song is a raw, intimate prayer from someone standing at a crossroads, exhausted by uncertainty yet still reaching for God. Set against late-night loneliness and the weight of unmet expectations, the narrator wrestles with doubt, fear, and the silence that sometimes follows desperate prayers. Each section builds on the tension between wanting direction and feeling stuck, asking God whether to stay, to go, or simply to surrender. The bridge shifts into a quiet plea for strength, mercy, and just enough light to take the next step. Ultimately, it's a vulnerable confession of spiritual fatigue and a longing for guidance when the path forward feels hidden.

Lyrics

Verse 1
Kitchen light humming at 2 a.m.
Cold cup of coffee, talking to myself again
Bills on the table, dreams on the floor
Every step I take just leads me back to one more closed door

Pre-Chorus
I've tried to be faithful, tried to stay strong
But these hands are shaking from holding on this long
If this is the road You laid so clear
Why am I stranded here... asking

Chorus
Where do I go from here, Lord
Where do I go from here
Do I lay it all down, let the night take me
Or keep walking through this fear
Is this what You're calling me to
Or did I lose Your voice somewhere
Where do I go from here, Lord
Where do I go from here

Verse 2
Friends say "be patient," but they miss the nights
When I'm face-down whispering prayers that don't sound right
I've circled every promise, underlined each line
Still I'm staring at the ceiling, waiting for a sign

Pre-Chorus
If there's a next step, speak it slow
I'm too worn out to pretend I know

Chorus
Where do I go from here, Lord
Where do I go from here
Do I lay it all down, let the night take me
Or keep walking through this fear
Is this what You're calling me to
Or did I lose Your voice somewhere
Where do I go from here, Lord
Where do I go from here

Bridge
If staying is Your will, help me stand through the ache
If leaving is Your mercy, give me strength not to break
If all You want is surrender, I'll lift these empty hands
I don't need the whole horizon
Just enough light to stand

Final Refrain
Where do I go from here, Lord
Where do I go from here
