Story Behind The Song
I had a riff that I wanted to build a song around. Also, I wanted to write a song where a single note was held while the chords and the harmony vocals changed underneath it. I thought it would work well with a lyric where the singer didn't understand the full impact of what he was saying until the end of the song.
Song Description
She possesses style, grace, beauty, allure, and magneticism. She exudes sexual freedom, sensitivity, and force of will. She refuses to live her life by any other standard save her own. She rewards noncomformity and passion in her lovers. She does not leave her self-esteem laying around where any harpie or lout can trample it.
He is smitten to the point of obsession; knows that words fail, but tries nonetheless. Tries to convey the impression she makes on him with a series of metaphors. Each one highlighting a different aspect of her power. He knows that even as he paints her as an "ideal" that she'll reject that characterization.
And he finally has to admit that he is losing himself in the process.

Lyrics
And she sings like it's the last song
You'll ever hear
And she's got to make it last forever.
And she'll dance with anyone
Who can't remember
The last time he looked at a watch.
And she's not someone's Juliet
And she wouldn't miss a moment
Of her life, not for anyone.
And she talks
Like words are drops of water flowing
Over the edge of the sky.
And she'll sleep
With anyone who can't remember
His name when she kisses him.
And she's not someone's Juliet
And she wouldn't miss a moment
Of this life, not for anyone.
And she sings like it's the last song
You'll ever hear
And she's got to make it last forever.
And she laughs
Like everyone has got to know
Why she's happy today
Don't you know, I'm beside myself.
And I'm not enjoying myself at all.
(and she sings...like its the last song)
