Song Description

Back in 1993, I had an idea of things to come; that most of my friends would eventually settle into a life with 2.5 kids and basically turn into their parents. I knew I didn't want that so I chose another path. Looking back, I often wonder if I made the right choice.

Story Behind the Song

The song was triggered by meeting up with some old friends after years of drifting apart... and then realizing how "real life" gets in the way. The 1990's was like my parents' 1960's.

Lyrics

It's been a long time
but seeing you brings back memories
of things forgotten, things i'd blocked and tried to leave
but you could tell, I didn't hide the pain that well
you saw right through me
it hasn't been the same since 1993

It's been a long life
and the years keep picking up speed
things go fast and never last and suddenly
I'm by myself wondering if i've chosen well
Oh where would I be
it hasn't been the same since 1993

Another home that slipped right under me
I let it go too easily
Another road that skipped from A to B
Went along just for the ride

But those where the days
Those were the times
I saw the warning signs
Of what was to come
What was to be
You know that I miss you
And 1993

It's been a long night
And if you think I'm not who I seem
Forcing laughter or just an actor playing a scene
If I did it well I'd have an Oscar on my shelf
Do you know what I mean
It hasn't been the same since 1993

Another home that slipped right under me
I let it go too easily
Another road that skipped from A to B
Went along just for the ride

But those where the days
Those were the times
I saw the warning signs
Of what was to come
What was to be
You know that I miss you
And 1993

Those were the days
Those were the times
I saw the warning signs
You know that miss you
And 1993
