Story Behind The Song
When I first moved to San Francisco, I was in the dumps. San Fran's perennial fog was getting me down, I felt uninspired artistically, and I was lonely. Overall, life felt like it was in a minor key. And then I met a wonderful gal named Nancy...a violinist who lit my life with love and music. Suddenly, I didn't mind the foggy days so much, and life overall flipped into a major key. I wrote this song in tribute to Nancy and our love.
Song Description
"Because You're Mine" is a Beatlesy short-and-sweet melodic love song about falling in love and how that love shines a halo onto life overall. Suddenly, rainy days are OK and life's minor key turns major--all of this...because you're mine.

Lyrics
Verse I
Because you're mine, I'm OK with the fog and the rain
Because you're mine, it's the same, as a holiday in Spain
Chorus
With you my blues turn green, and sleeping buds are opening
And I'm a better me because you're mine
Verse II
The mistakes that I've made seem a part of some plan
To guide me down a crooked path to find your waiting hand
Chorus
The minor keys from before, are turning into major chords
And I'm a better me, because you're mine
Bridge
On my own, I thought I had it all
And that holding someone's hand would slow me down to a crawl
But in my rush to live fast and free, I drove off a high cliff wall
And you were there to help to break my fall
Instrumental
Chorus
As the bitter and the sweet make each other more complete
It's because of you
Oh yes you're the reason why
Dreams are coming true
Because you're mine
