Song Description

Memories of "Maggie" playing her piano in the dark as she dreams of a better life.

Story Behind the Song

Some of the memories I have of my mother, Margaret, was watching her play piano with her eyes closed. She had dreams and aspirations of being a professional musician as a youth but instead started raising a family. After she passed away, I wrote this song as a dedication to her.

Lyrics

BYE BYE MAGGIE

maggie plays piano in the dark
she plays with all her heart
and she sings about something better

she was forced to grow up much too fast
and spends alot of time in the past
to decide what really matters

she's going to fly away and leave it all behind
today will be the day she'll spread her wings and fly

bye bye my maggie
bye bye 'til another day
fly fly high maggie
fly fly away

maggie never had a chance to try
opportunities passed her by
and her dreams just drifted away

i don't want to wave goodbye to maggie
but i know that she'll finally be happy
playing piano all day

she's going to fly away and leave it all behind
today will be the day she'll spread her wings and fly

bye bye my maggie
bye bye 'til another day
fly fly high maggie
fly fly away

...when maggie waves goodbye
she's got her wings to fly
