Song Description

The song person driving towards the city about to have the time of their life with their friends and being with the person of their dreams who doesn't want the night to be a one time event, but rather an event that lasts forever. The music reflects the excitatory emotions as they begin their night, and a sad yet hopeful feeling when the night comes to an end.

Story Behind the Song

As a normal high schooler, I was heavily involved with Homecoming and all of the events that occur with it. On the night of our dance, I was driving along with some friends and noticed the lights of the school, all of which illuminated the pitch black night. I spent that night dancing with the girl of whom I have adored for years and years, a girl in which I have always wanted to be with, but never happened. The story depicts me, a person driving towards the city about to have the time of their life with their friends and being with the person of their dreams who doesn't want the night to be a one time event, but rather an event that lasts forever.

Lyrics

Driving out towards the city skyline
We're about to take it all by storm
Even though I feel a chilling wind
I've got my love to keep me warm

Making our way through the lit up city
We're gonna paint the town red
And we'll be out 'til we see the light of day
I've always wanted to start again

Driving down those roads of endlessness
Captured by the red and green
All those colors shining in our eyes
We feel if as we've been freed

Liberated from doing what we've been told
We're about to rewrite history
And we'll have our night before we get too old
And the lights go out indefinitely

Then you said
You had to go
Packed your bags and then you left
And where you went I'll never know

As you left
We said our gooodbyes
and I'll never forget that glimmer
locked away within your eyes

Promise me
We'll meet again
That we'll be together and
I really don't care when

Be with me
I beg you please
I love you dear
I'm right here on my hands and knees

Making our way through the lit up city
Making our way through the lit up city
Making our way through the lit up city
Making our way through the lit up city
