Song Description

This is a song about transformation, love lost, maybe love found.

Story Behind the Song

There is quite a story behind this song concerning love over time; past, present and future. Maybe someday that story can and will be told. But for now, I think it is best to simply remain a personal love song, one of my favorites.

Lyrics

Butterfly

words and music by Baird Brittingham

Come with me and you will see
And on her wings we're gonna fly
Set her free of things inside
And you will see a butterfly
Hearts overflowing, tears of jasmine shine
Sail off to a sunset, and all the love inside

Come into my world of pain
Would you dry up all the rain
One night here and when it's time
There will be you my butterfly
Hearts overflowing, tears of jasmine shine
Sail off to a sunset and all the love inside

Wish I could take back all the time
One more chance if you would try
It's my heart been broken too
When you're gone my butterfly
Heart's overflowing, tears of jasmine shine
Sail off to a sunset, and all the love inside

Spread your wings to gently fly
As I sing this lullaby
And if a kiss may seem too much
How I miss your gentle touch
Hearts overflowing, tears of jasmine shine
Sail off to a sunset, and all the love inside

Come into this house of pain
And I pray that you'll remain
True to the one that's meant for you
And let your love come shining through
Hearts overflowing, tears of jasmine shine
Sail off to a sunset, and all the love inside

Come with me and you will see
and on her wings we're gonna fly
Set her free of things inside
You and me we'll be that butterfly
