Story Behind The Song
I wrote this from the perspective of a young person, oldest of five children who's Mother died too young, and a Dad who was not only neglectful but abusive.The struggle to forgive and LIVE with this is not easy for anyone, but my own awareness of God and that He was my Father kept me from letting the person my Dad was ruin my life, and this applies to all of life's trials, it's not the trial, it's how we respond to it that matters.Forgiveness is the only way we can be free of the past.There is another long version of this song, a more detailed story song and many people could say it was their story too.

This song represents an awareness that no matter what happens in this life, we are not alone, a greater power knows us and even in the light of abuse and neglect from a parent, God is our creator and Father and we always have someone to turn to, if we keep the faith and not let a painful past distroy our life and happiness, we can even learn to forgive.
