Story Behind The Song
Daddy always said "you'll find out the hard way". Never listened, especially as a young Marine stationed across the globe. As hard times pressed in I longed to be near my father and found that my heavenly Father wanted to be near me.
Song Description
Life has a way of raining on us. In the midst of the storm there is a still voice speaking to us. We long to hear from our heavenly Father and sometimes in the midst of trials, we hear Him.

Lyrics
There was a time when I wouldn't hear for lack of wisdom
Daddy said "Son you'll find out the hard way - Oh yes you will."
When the old man was up and gone I went on with my life
Thought I was free to take my chances - you know I did
It's funny how things now just don't seem the same anymore
All the friends are grown up and gone or drunk and dead and
Lately I just don't have a place to call my home
It was night I went out walking alone
No one to hear me crying for mercy - Lord have mercy
In the bar I found my friends: Jack, Jimmy and Jose
We sat and talked all night long - singing some old sad, sad song
The streets where I woke up were gray and hard
My life was like the dawn bleeding in the sky and
Then it started raining on my head
There's a part of me that's dying - crying on the inside
To be set free, of this misery and let me know there is love
And hope to carry on
Lord let me hear Your voice
Like thunder in the rain - like Thunder in the rain
Speak clearly to me
Part the clouds like a veil - such a heavy veil
This road that I'm walking now, is long and hard
It's unlike any road on any map
And Father I need Your grace
Send me on my way ...
