Story Behind The Song
Bonhoeffer was part of a plot to assassinate Hitler during World War 2. The plot was snuffed out and he and his conspirators were put into jail. In 1943 he was arrested and he was killed in April, 1945, just 3 weeks before the Russians captured Berlin.
