Story Behind The Song
I was inspired by having met two brothers in Sri Lanka where one was a priest serving his people with the Bible in hand and the other was a guerrilla soldier serving his people with a gun in hand. Both believed in the same goal, had similar principles and passions, just different ways of expressing it. This contrast reminded me of stories I have heard of families being split up and ending up on opposite sides of a struggle where brothers are fighting brothers without even knowing it.
Song Description

Lyrics
37 metros
Caín se fue para el monte
se hizo guerrero
en honor a su padre muerto
Guiado por venganza quiere
a sangre fría
bajar a ese soldado
que a su padre había matado
Abel se queda en casa
su madre y cuatro hermanas
no tienen que comer
temprano una mañana
Desplazado por la guerra
busca trabajo
se une al ejercito
la única oportunidad que se le dá
Son hermanos
de la misma tierra
la misma sangre
corren en sus venas
Del mismo palo
la misma astilla
vuelven al mismo polvo
al final del día
ah
Monte arriba en un ataque
Abel con su brigada
llegan a Belén
no creen que pasa nada
Caín con sus guerreros
haciendo rondas
armados hasta los dientes
sienten un miedo bien latente
Y a 37 metros
esos hermanos
no se pueden ver
y el corazón no esta pensando
Abel él abre fuego
de puro miedo
Caín que anda cerca
se ha tirado hacia la tierra
El crucifijo de su padre
entre sus dientes
Caín pone al enemigo
en la mira de su arma
Y él que es tiro fijo
No duda en disparar
Abel cae despacio
sin tiempo ni para rezar
Son hermanos
de la misma tierra
la misma sangre
corren en sus venas
Del mismo palo
la misma astilla
vuelven al mismo polvo
al final del día
ah
Tu honor no vale nada
cuando estás cuatro metros bajo tierra
olvidamos para qué vivimos
y a quien matamos en esta guerra
Son hermanos...
Somos hermanos
de la misma tierra
la misma sangre
corre en nuestras venas
Del mismo palo
la misma astilla
somos el mismo polvo
al final del día
