Story Behind The Song
This song was written for my Aunt and Uncle, who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. I was asked to write a song for them and to sing it at their celebration. My uncle has been a cowboy all his life, and he is an educated, but simple man, who loves his horses and rodeos. My aunt is an awesome lady who told me stories of what it was like while my uncle was away. Ironically, she shared with me, stories, after I wrote the song. Needless to say, the song is about relationships, and how two people are dedicated, even in the times when life is difficult and feelings are at a low ebb. They push through those times when they don't "feel" the love as strongly as in the beginning. It's about letting Love keep them focused.
Song Description
Letting love have our hearts is not always the easiest thing to do, especially when you have been with someone for over 45 years. Gotta Let Love is about pressing through the hard times, two people staying in a marriage, even when at times, it almost came to an end, but them making a decision to work through the crap. It's about not giving in and walking out, it's about a woman's faithfulness to her husband, and that husband's passion for living in riding the rodeo circuit and riding his horses.

Verse 1:
Sun's goin' down on a small New Mexico town
Where life's been good, and sometimes hard
There's a lady and a man, livin' life the best they can
Makin' it their home right from the start
PRE-CHORUS:
We all know it's hard to feel it sometimes, but we keep holdin' on somehow
We've all faced our obstacles in this life
Gotta let love keep us in the here and now
CHORUS
Gotta let love lead us to the truth
Gotta let love hold it all in tune
Gotta let love be the keeper of our hearts
Gotta let love be the place we start
Gotta let love, Gotta let love
Verse 2:
In a day when it's so easy to up and walk away
It takes a lot to stand and fight
Through memories and photographs, good-byes and epitaphs
Through seasons that have come and gone
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
One faithful woman waits, while on the open range, her cowboy rides
Through rodeos and ropin' teams, traveling across the country far and wide
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
