Story Behind The Song

The song was written about the first time I (Andrea Dawn) got dumped. A guy who had recently gotten out of a 2 year relationship asked me out, and I agreed to go on dates with him. After a couple dates he asked me to officially be his girlfriend. A whopping one week later he called to inform me that he had gotten back together with his ex. And just stated "Sorry, don't hate me forever." Some time after the break up I felt foolish for even crying over this guy. And for a final bit of closure, and just for fun, I wrote "Over It."

Song Description

Over It is a song about a guy who breaks up with a girl to go back to his ex. It talks about the typical break up lines ("it's not you it's me"). The chorus is about the girl realizing there was no need to cry over him. The second verse talks about being free from his expectations, and the end of the song lists the things she won't miss about him. Musically the song has been said to be "rich textured song crafted with great pop sensibilities." It is piano pop with a touch of Ben Fold's type harmonies. The song is fun and edgy.
