Story Behind The Song
Originally six minutes long, Amanda had an unforgettable chorus melody with absolutely no lyrical clarity. Seeing as her song (previously untitled) had great potential, she revitalized it with an entirely new definite structure. The lyrics were redone and the song finally came to.
Song Description
With a pulsing rhythm and undeniable hook, The Fortress is a story about letting one into previously impenetrable "walls", only to find such an invitation was not given in return.

Lyrics
The Fortress
(Verse 1:)
I took down my Fortress
I opened up it?s doors
releasing all my deepest of secrets
and inviting the chance
for so much more
(Chorus:)
Somehow I thought I
already knew
(Verse 2:)
Of course, you never miss
what you never know
But this came so unexpected and true
And yes, I can understand it
in a sense
even if my senses are unused!
(Chorus:)
Somehow I thought you
already knew
(Verse 3:)
Your walls are endlessly high
Towering
Intimidaition refrains!
Calloused from all of your pain
Or you must not
feel the same...
Composed of concrete block and steel
The Fortress - a structure
I cannot explain
Built from all the admittance
you restrain
Or you must not feel the same!
(Chorus:)
But somehow I thought
I already knew...
