Now We've Left

Story Behind The Song

Roughly two years after packing my little hatchback and driving 3000 miles west with my girlfriend, we found our self on an old family farm in PA. The previous 48 hours had been spent in parts of New York seeing faces from highschool, and it was just the moment i realized... we left! We didnt just move away from home, we didnt just travel out west, we lived there. And that felt important to me. So the song came out.

Song Description

It begins with a lo fi swaggering guitar. The lyrics start with the question "what would it mean if we were not here?" This could mean many things... It could be a deep extenstential query. But its really just a matter of fact question, what if we didn?t move? But i guess, at heart its really just a love song. The second verse is just admiring my love who joined me on the journey. Im sure im a lot of ways, it couldn?t happen without her. So, after a second chorus and whistling hook. The bridge brings up the subject of the strengths of love. ?each of us were only half afraid, so our better halfs teamed up and led the way? Nothings too hard when you put your best foot forward. Finally we have a beautiful bass solo by Ian Kipatrick, and a classic, Sinatra style, triple repeat outro. Hope you like it.

Lyrics

What would it mean if we were not here?
Where would we be, hypothetically?
I don?t mean here, in the grander scheme
But just on a smaller scale, like where we get our mail

I know it doesn?t make any sense
We once just moved away
And now we?ve left

I always knew I needed and adventure
I just never knew, it would be with you
Sometimes the planets all align
No need to check the grass on the other side

We just packed the car and headed west
We once just moved away
But now we?ve left

It seems like half the world when you think of it
Its only out of arms reach a little bit
And seems like nothing, when not drawn to scale
And each of us were only half afraid
Our better halves teamed up and led the way

I know it doesn?t make any sense,
We once just moved away
But now we?ve left.
