Song Description

The girl in this song starts off by saying how alone she feels. How her boyfriend has broken promises repeatidly and she feels unwanted and unappreciated. She slowly turns from saddness to anger as he continues to let their relationship fall apart due to his lack of effort.

Story Behind the Song

This is the story of a girl who is with a guy who makes promises to be a better boyfriend. The girl feels unappreciated and unwanted. She's frustrated because the boyfriend is constantly saying things to make her feel better but there is no action behind his words. He's all talk and it's just not enough for her.

Broadjam Member Reviews

"Word Man" is one heck of a concept. Stephanie Johnson takes the idea that actions speak louder than words and turns it on its edge in a moving, dramatic song that is equal parts vocal lightning and songwriting strength.

    - Elizabeth Elkins - Broadjam Pro Reviewer

The simple guitar intro is quickly joined by a vocal that takes your ears by storm! In a real good way. You can't stop listening. It sounds like it's going to really take off and sound super big... and that's a promise it keeps. It builds, breaks down and then soars again. So well written and addictive. I'm listening again. And again. This is bigtime.

    - Billy Pilgrim
Lyrics

Here I go again, feeling the disconnect, sensing the space between our bones. I cried alone tonight for the thousandth time. Craving your touch but it's ice cold. My mind start to race, I feel so far away from everything I've ever known. You told me you would try. that you wouldn't let us die but you're not backing up the lines you sold.

Cause you're just a word man. Can't hold me with your hands.
Make promises you can't ever keep.
Yea you're just a word man. You tell me I'll never understand but you make it so hard to believe.
So I keep on waiting for the day when I will feel all that you say. All I hear are words.

Here we go again, another fight, you win. Constantly haunted by the past.
And I know I'm to blame for that but I must point out the fact that we can't move on while you're looking back.

Cause you're just a word man. Can't show me with your hands.
Make promises you can't ever keep.
Oh you're just a word man. You tell me I'll never understand but you make it so hard to believe.
I keep on waiting for that day, for the chains to finally break, when I will see all that you say. But all I hear are words.

All I hear, all I hear , all I hear are words. Words, words, words.

Cause you're just a word man. Can't hold me with your hands. Make promises you can't ever keep.

You're just a word man. Can't show me with your hands.
Make promises you can't ever keep.
Oh you're just a word man. You tell me I'll never understand but you make it so hard to believe.
I keep on waiting for that day, for the chains to finally break, when I will see all that you say. But all I hear are words.
