Story Behind The Song
Written and recorded as a conscious effort to replicate the early Sun and Chess folk blues masters. Pure homage.
Song Description
The simple blues form recorded using hot tube preamps and plate reverb. Lyrics rely upon some nature imagery to evade the usualcliches, and the chord form uses a dominant 2nd instead of a 5th for a slightly spacier effect.
This song has the earmarks of a real plaintive unrequited love song with some oddball imagery that grabs the listeners attention. Revisionist classic blues that sounds like it was recorded in 1956.

Lyrics
Ain't no big talker mama, less I got somethin to say
Ain't no big talker mama, less I got somethin to say
If you want me you can have me any time any day
Seen those hummingbirds hovering, heard those mockingbirds calling you
Seen those hummingbirds hovering, heard those mockingbirds calling you
I'm just sitting in my treetop wondering what I should do
Let me crow for you at daybreak, let me coo for you at dusk
Let me crow for you at daybreak, let me coo for you at dusk
But if I leave your side at midnight, it's only because I must
Ain't no jet pilot mama, but I got someplace I gotta be
Ain't no jet pilot mama, but I got someplace I gotta be
Landing right here by your window just to see what I can see
Now I slept on Arctic snowbanks and I choked on the desert sand
Now I slept on Arctic snowbanks and I choked on the desert sand
Now I'm standing in your doorway and it feels just like uncharted land
I know you won't believe me when I say I never heard the call of love before
I know you won't believe me when I say I never heard the call of love before
Just say that you don't want me and I won't shake your branches anymore
