Stay Awhile

Story Behind The Song

My husband, Paul, and I write much of our music together as well as recording all our songs in our home studio. I wrote this song early on, when we were just starting to get out performing our music live. Paul had been in many bands before and the age difference is such that he has had more life experience as well. When this song spilled out, I was going through the exact soul searching discussed in the lyrics. Trying to figure out my path without trying to force things too much, while also learning to truly love myself so that I could also live for others.

Song Description

Sometimes we try too hard in our life and our relationships to find out the truth of who we are. Some people never find themselves out of fear. Essentially, we are all mirrors for one another in the search for truth within.

Lyrics

Love is the waiting of the ages coming to you now.
All is granted if you happen to get this chance of a lifetime.
I am ready, focus steady, and I won't hold out.
Keep the fire going, it's a long long road we keep on walking down.
Down, down, down.

Love is the story who's unfolding tackles many fears.
Shadows talking, whispers haunting the mind with doubtful laughter.
I am awaiting my heart breaking, but with you it stays whole.
We're in this for the long haul.

[chorus]
And I know it's hard sometimes,
To feel the weight of the world on your shoulders.
So many ways to go wrong, so just stay for a while.

We are craving something greater in the life we lead.
To find a sparkle of a hope to see a better lifetime.
Always searching for the meaning we may never find.
Please show me a sign.

[chorus]

I know what's best.
Just let it rest,
So we can try again tomorrow, baby.
Our lonliness won't pass the test of time, cuz we're all in this together.
The clock is set, but don't forget to take the road less traveled on,
And maybe we could start again.
Cuz I know where I belong, and I know where I come from, but somehow some way...I keep holding on.

Love is the waiting of the ages coming to you now.
