Story Behind The Song

Written about a time when me and my ex girlfriend of 6 years broke up after she cheated on me. She new i was still madly in love with her even after 2 years of being broken up and when things went wrong with her new boy friend, she called me up and tried to work her way back into my life. I wasn't happy about it and didn't want her to have the satisfaction of being able to just call on me so i said no to her coming round and when she came looking for me, i left traces of my old love for her in a smile as we would pass in the street, but would very quickly move away from her as if to say "This is what you could have had" It messed me uo pretty badly when I first found out about her cheating on me and the line "6 years is written on my skin" is the scars form self harming back then (deep huh!)
