Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart

Story Behind The Song

I was sitting on a plane and couldn't get the line "Thank you from the bottom of my heart" out of my head (music and all). I probably sang it out loud without even realizing it. But that's what happens when inspiration hits. What can you do? So I took that line and wrapped a song around it. I don't think I intended it to be a praise song but, then again, I didn't intend for it not to be. By the time it was written, the song was open to multiple interpretations.

Lyrics

Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart

V1: You took my hand in your hand and said come with me
I will be your shelter from now on
I thanked you very kindly but said I couldn't blindly
Follow you into the great beyond
But no matter how long or how strongly I resisted
You held on to me so tightly and insisted
Until I let my guard come down
And felt your strength surrounding me

Cho: And I thank you from the bottom of my heart
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart
You had it right, right from the start
And I thank you - thank you from the bottom of my heart

V2: It takes a lot of trust for me to let you into
The sacred place where truth ends and begins
A place tucked far away from the light of a bright day
That holds my deepest secrets and all my delicious sins
Of course you knew everything about me all along
Loved me when I was right - loved me when I was wrong
I can't imagine how I didn't see that until now

Cho:

Bridge: Very few of us get to experience
A love that transcends time and space
I know how fortunate I am and only hope one day I can
Express my gratitude face-to-face

V3: Meanwhile I live with the knowledge that you're there
Listening to each and every single prayer
I put my faith in you
And you always come through

Cho:
