I Love You To Death (And Back)

Story Behind The Song

In my family, we know by now that anything anyone says is fair game to be displayed in a song or a play. My son, Sean, and I were driving to the recording studio one day. The heart transplant he had a couple years earlier had been so traumatic - at first, he was fighting for his life and after receiving the transplant, was struggling to understand the whys. In response to a remark he made, I said "I love you ..... to death" to which he responded "and back" which struck us both as quite humorous in a frighteningly truthful way. He astutely commented "There's a song." Although I offered to co-write, he (also astutely) responded "No - you go ahead. Don't wait for me." I didn't.

Lyrics

I Love You To Death (And Back)

Cho: I love you to death and back
Whether you're right or wrong
What do you think of that?
That's pretty deep and strong
We've been to hell and back
To heaven and beyond
There's no greater love than that
I love you to death and back

V1: You fell to the bottom of this well called life
And came out on the other side
Now you know letting go
Is not an option if you're gonna survive

Cho:

V2: Nobody knows you like you know yourself
It's your life so do what you will
Live each day your own way
But don't be shy to ask for help 'cause I

Cho:

Bridge: Oh, no, won't let you go
Oh, no, won't let you go
