Song Description

Thank goodness for true friends.

Story Behind the Song

During a conversation on the phone with a customer representative, she mentioned that, at one time in her life, she had been helpless and homeless. There was a pause and I said, "That's my next song...." Sure enough, this song emerged.

Lyrics

V1: I've been helpless, I've been homeless
I've been hungry, I've been scared
Through it all one thing I know is
You are always there
In my thoughts, in my dreams
In my deepest, darkest prayers
You never ever let go of me
You let me know somebody cares

Cho: You are my hope, my guiding light
You keep me safe and warm at night
My shining star, my saving grace
You'll always have a place in my heart

V2: I don't know how I became
Just another person on the street
I was born into the world
Of the privileged elite
But something happened on my journey
I fell hard and I fell far
That's when I learned how adversity
Teaches us who our true friends are

Cho:

V3: When you see on the corner
You never pass me by
You pull me close, keep me warm
And catch the tears I cry
You never ask me how I got here
You just take my hand in yours
So I know I need not fear
You make sure I am secure
