Story Behind The Song
The basic story behind this song is I went to elementary school with this boy (Gion). I moved away, thinking I'd never see him again. I was only 12 and he was my very first crush ever!!! After moving, I kept the fantasies about him, I always wondered and fantasized about seeing him again. About 15 years went by, I happened to be out in California again for a wedding and was in the neighborhood where he grew up. I went up and knocked on his door, we talked, exchanged phone numbers, email etc. He then invited me to stay with him at his beach house for a romantic weekend. The fantasies consumed me again, but it didn't turn out so well. He ditched me when I got there, we spent one night together and then it was just over. I came back to New York devastated. It was either write a song or jump off a bridge.
