Incomprehensible Creation

Story Behind The Song

Borrowed £1000 from my best college friend, couldn't repay it for years, lost touch out of embarrassment. The day I called to repay him, his shocked wife told me he'd died of cancer 2 yrs ago. That evening, this song arose from my reactions.

The world is hard to understand. In the end, studying life reveals that existence is but a dream conjured by our own deepest self, so there's no-one to blame for what happens...

Lyrics

The Sun rises this morning; I see part of my landscape's gone forever.
It faded in the night while I lay asleep dreaming of tomorrow
Of walks and talks and sharing thoughts
Memories, dreams and peaceful scenes
Other times we mightn't see
So perfectly harmoniously
But through it all, you were like a brother
Now you've joined my sister in eternity
Eternity's not gone, it's here forever.
Not sleeping, no, now you watch over infinity
A landscape so much bigger now
But size doesn't matter anyhow
We all got to do the best we can
With what we see around us
With the love we feel inside us
'Cos Love's the only way ... to live up to the memory.

Well, nothing perfect's yet been made yet all is perfectly the way it should be.
Our dreams, they never quite come true but I guess it's all the way it's meant to be:
What we wanted with our wider vision
What we planned when we could see
What we got started at the inception
Of Our Incomprehensible Creation
Our Incomprehensible Creation
Incomprehensible

Every day the sun rises, another part of my landscape's gone forever.
But it's only changes in the night, a little shifting of the sand, a new tomorrow
I can't say it's a better world
I can't say it's a worse one
I can't say much about the way
That things appear this bright new day
Cos all in all, it doesn't really look that different
Appearances they're only skin deep anyway
There's still the same old ups and downs and turnarounds
Still the same old joys and pains and time to play
We all want freedom from the world
From all its dreary tangled curls
But we just got to do the best we can
With what we see around us
With the love we feel inside us
Love's the only way ... to live up to the memory.

Well, nothing perfect's yet been made...
